He's roving his way Down Under! Robert Pattinson heading to Australia for film festival to launch new movie The Rover with Guy Pearce

He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world and now Robert Pattinson is roving his way to Australia to launch his new film at the Sydney Film Festival.
The 27-year-old actor will be joined by his co-star Guy Pearce and Animal Kingdom director David Michod at the red carpet premiere of their movieThe Rover.
The futuristic thriller will have its Australian debut at the State Theatre in Sydney on Saturday, June 7 and is officially in competition at the prestigious festival.

Pattinson spent several months in Melbourne in 2013 filming the flick, which is the follow-up from Michod after his critically acclaimed debut that famously saw Jacki Weaver nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actress.

The Rover is one of the most anticipated films of 2014 among critical circles and will have its world premiere at the Cannes film festival next week.
Selected to play in one of the coveted midnight slots, the film is a dystopian crime drama that follows a loner tracking a gang that stole his car from a desolate town in the Australian Outback.

Pattinson previously described the movie as 'kind of a Western' and it's co-written by Michod's frequent collaborator Joel Edgerton.
'It’s very existential. It’s really interesting,' he told Indiewire.
'I couldn’t really explain to you what it’s about but it’s sort of about how much pain can the world take and how much disgust and cruelty before love dies.'
The Rover was announced as one of 12 film in competition at the Australian film festival, which launched its full program on Tuesday and kicks off from Friday, June 4.
