Review of The Night Circus

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Robnation.org announced that we had been selected by Random House to receive and review an early Advance Reader's Edition of the new book and Summit Entertainment film, The Night Circus, by author Erin Morgenstern.

I had originally anticipated I would have the book finished to review in a week or two, but for the first time since I discovered The Twilight Saga books, I could not put this book down. So, just 3 short days after my journey through The Night Circus began, my review is ready.

The first word that comes to mind when I think of how to describe The Night Circus is enchanting. From the very beginning, author Erin Morgenstern pulls you into a world of magic and mystery when we are introduced to the two main characters, Celia and Marco, and learn that their magical destinies are already predetermined, but can't quite figure out what those destinies are. The whole set up for the two or them is fascinating enough, but it isn't until The Night Circus is introduced that we are totally transported to another place.

When Ms. Morgenstern describes the circus, it’s like you are there. You can see the tents and the mysterious, dazzling performers/displays inside of them, smell the caramel and popcorn, and feel the warmth of the bonfire in the courtyard. The only thing better then her masterfully written description of the circus is the way the events, timeline and plot unfold. It is pure genius.

I don’t want to go into too much detail so you can discover the vast surprises and delights this book has to offer on your own. Besides, there is already a great summary below. I will tell you that The Night Circus has it all; forbidden love, mystery, suspense, and an imaginary world you want to be a part of. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you loved Twilight, or even if you didn’t for that matter, you will love this book.

Ms. Morgenstern, I can only hope The Night Circus will continue and the train will roll on. Until then, I will be combing the fields donning my red scarf, hoping the black and white stripes magically appear in my town again soon. I am your faithful Reveur.
