It’s that time of year again — right before August, when the threat of Sharknadoes are at its highest. Over the next few days, we urge folks to remain calm, stay indoors and put their safety as a top priority. WeatherBug takes this threat seriously, and created a map to help people see and understand their risk:

Sharknado Risk Map (WeatherBug)
If you need to go outdoors and/or travel to a safer zone, here’s what you’ll need to maximize your success and safety:
- Water – You’ll need to stay hydrated as you run from cover to cover.
- Weapons – Think chainsaw, shotgun, knife, sword, bat, etc. Anything sturdy will do to keep these sharks at bay!
- Cell Phone & Charger – You’ll need to communicate w/ your friends and family to coordinate your survival plans. The more people you have working together, the greater your chance of survival.
- WeatherBug Mobile App – Knowing when and where a Sharknado will strike will help you avoid danger areas! Use WeatherBug to know before!
- First Aid Kit – Be sure it contains sterile gauze, Band-Aids, medical tape and a tourniquet. If injured, try to stop the bleeding as fast as possible — sharks are attracted to the smell of blood.
- Map(s) of the Area – Determine your escape route wisely. Stay away from water ways!
- Whistle – Quickly let others in the vicinity know where you are. Extremely helpful when you’re in a shark’s belly and you need help getting out.
- Duct Tape - If you happen to be wrestling a shark to save your life, you’ll want a way to keep their mouths shut!
- Good Shoes – Pick shoes that are light in weight and have good traction on the soles. Chances are you’ll be running on a wet or muddy surface.

Average Fatalities Annually in the U.S. (WeatherBug)
Note that each year, 0 people are killed by sharknadoes. You have a better chance of being killed by icicles and cows. But please, remain vigilant and steadfast — don’t become the first person to die from a sharknado.
Be Prepared. Know Before™.

If you haven’t figured out already, sharknadoes are not real and are not a threat to your life.
