Happy New Year all! Witchy and I are back with a whole new set of fic recs to get the new year started.
blueeyedcherry presents Channel Five by planetblue
I have a little confession to make. When it comes to fic, I'm not much of a smut seeker. I look for stories that have solid plotlines, great characters, and content that will hold my attention. If I find something like that and there's a good lemon or two in it as well, they're really just a bonus for me. But, sometimes I get in the mood to find something a bit on the schmexy side, and that's how I stumbled across planetblue's Dirty Talking Edward contest entry, Channel Five.
This is a one shot that can be read in one sitting, and trust me when I say you won't be able to stop reading until you reach the end. And then when you get there, you'll probably be in the same place as I was, craving more of these two and their rendezvous.
Bella and Rose are flight attendants on Edward Cullen's private jet. It's Bella's first time working for him, and Rose makes it abundantly clear that Bella will not be dealing with Edward in any way, shape, or form. That doesn't exactly happen, however, because Bella's clumsiness causes her to get mixed up on Edward's walkie talkie channel. What happens next is a game of verbal cat-and-mouse, that starts out innocently enough and ends in a hot and frantic.
Bella has a mouth on her and a good sense of humor. I got a kick out of her on numerous occasions. I could tell she was intimidated by the sheer situation she was placed in, with the private jet and it's absurdly wealthy and mysterious owner, but she grabbed the experience by the balls and owned it. Edward's mouth ... *fans self*. Let's just say dirty talking is an understatement. And, despite his reputation for being somewhat of an asshat, he's actually a pretty down-to-earth and good guy.
If you're looking for a quick and steamy be sure to check this one out. And leave PB some love too.
WitchyVampireGirl presents Lacunar by perpetually
If you ask around, I am not an angst lover. I have to be in
the mood for angst and usually it has to be complete so the trauma and
heartache eventually have an end in sight. It is rare that I EVER read an angst
story as a WIP. So imagine my surprise as I was trolling Facebook and saw
someone rec Lacunar by perpetually and I was inspired to check it out by the
rave reviews. I read chapter one and I was INSTANTLY hooked. I read all the
chapters that had been loaded and longed … no, I ached for more.
It is a beautifully heart wrenching story about Edward and
Bella, two people in love, but who have seriously lost their way. It opens up
with Edward waking up from a short coma from an accident he can’t remember. As
his body heals and his mind stays silent regarding his missing memories, we
watch as Edward pushes himself to fill in the missing gaps.
As he works to try and piece together the missing puzzle
pieces, he throws himself into loving his wife. As you watch a man so happy and
grateful to be alive and with the woman he loves, you wonder, where is the
angst. That comes in the form of Bella.
Right away, we are clued in that while Edward may have gaps
in his memories, Bella does not. She all too well knows and remembers what
Edward cannot. It is that knowledge that puts Bella in a hard place. You see,
she loves the Edward that came out of the hospital, he is a far cry from the
guy that went in. But being the keeper of the secrets comes with a weighing
price for Bella, the fear that one day, Edward will find out. So day after day,
she revels in the love of her husband and lives with enormous guilt that she
will be found out. For as bad as things were, she understandably believes it is
her actions that lead to Edward being in the hospital.
To make matter worse, Edward attempts to draw Bella into his
quest for knowledge only to be given half-truths and non-committal answers. As
a reader you’re desperate to know and understand as well what was forgotten but
dreading the fallout you know will happen when he does. As Edward starts to get
flashes and glimpses of his missing memories, his dismay at what the truth
could be makes you want to hide under a blanket. Just to add to the angst, the
author starts dropping hints as to what he could be forgetting and with dread
you start to piece it together. Now, you’re torn; do you want to know the truth
or not.
When the other shoe drops and Edward no longer has the
luxury of not remembering, you become a helpless bystander as two people try to
find their way back to each other. Perpetually takes us on a journey that
requires a seatbelt, Kleenex and a teddy bear for comfort. She holds nothing
back, in fact she gives us a heart breaking look inside a broken marriage,
sugar coating nothing and pulling all the punches. I have found myself groaning
at their stupidity and wiping away tears of pain. The only saving grace is that
it is posted daily, of course that means a daily dose of heartache.
If you feel brave enough to dive in, come join the rest us
in angsty anticipation. As always, please leave the author some love.

WitchyVampireGirl presents Diamond in the Rough by lmlx8
I’m going to do a first for this Something Witchy, I’m going
to recommend a WIP. You see, this is the one story that I’ll wait forever and a
day for it to finish and when I do get an update, I run like hell to the
nearest computer to devour it. In my very humble opinion, it is one of the best
BDSM fics still out there. Diamond in the Rough by lmlx8 is a fascinating story
about one woman’s journey into submission and the man who guides her. I will
warn you right now, if this not your cup of tea, exit the review right now, if
you’re curious, keep reading.
The story starts with Bella making her first foray into the
scene by attending an open house night at the exclusive New Moon club. She is
accompanied by a reluctant Jake who would rather be anywhere than with Bella at
a BDSM club. But like the wonderful friend he is, he helps his friend even if
he thinks she’s a bit crazy. By the time she leaves the club, she has caught
the eye of Edward, a Dominant in search of a submissive.
Right away the author weaves a magical and engaging story.
She takes her time in setting up her characters, letting them evolve naturally
and easily. Bella is a highly complicated character that comes from a horrific
background. What makes her different from the hundreds of broken Bella’s is
that she’s not broken, she has risen from the ashes and is living a new and
wonderful life. While her past still affects her, she refuses to be defined by
her past.
Edward is a wonderfully patient and strong man. As a
Dominant, he is skilled, desired and sexy as hell. He longs for a true
submissive and not the wanna-be’s he’s been with recently. In Bella he senses
he has found the woman and submissive he wants and needs. He guides Bella in
exploring her deepest desires and along the way, they fall in love.
While the author has never explicitly stated she lives the
lifestyle, she is highly knowledgeable, adding a touch of realism to all the
D/s aspects. She carefully crafts their time together to be erotic, loving, and
as accurate as possible. This story walks a fine balance between the romance of
a new relationship and the carefully ritualistic world of Dominance and
submission.
Right now the story stands at over 100 chapters and they are
long chapters. It is no longer on FF, it was pulled during one of the purges however, she can be found on her blog where she posts rough chapters of the
story. She can also be found on TWCS. The last we had heard from lmlx8, she
will finish, but it is taking time. Once it is all written (and we are lead to
believe she is nearing the end) it, she will post on TWCS. In the meantime, you
can subscribe to her blog and get the rough chapters as she finishes them.
If you love BSDM stories, I swear that this won’t
disappoint. Don’t let the length discourage you, instead, submerse yourself
into a highly addicting story that you can’t help but wait for it to finish.
blueeyedcherry presents Summer of Salt by lola-pops
If there's one author in this fandom who has the ability to ALWAYS pull at the right angst strings that are attached to my heart, it's Lola. And Summer of Salt is not just my favorite story she's written, but it's one of my favorite stories in general.
Bella, Rose, and Jasper are cousins who spend summers at their parents' cabins. Days are spent laying out on the beach without a care in the world. Nights are spent next to a bonfire, beer in one hand and a joint in the other. Edward and Emmett's mom just bought one of the cabins on the lake they go to, and so the gang of canon characters gets together right away (Alice has come for the summer from the East coast). Canon character pairings fall into place, but .... Edward is an ass. A royal ass, who is so arrogant it's ridiculous.
Not only is he arrogant, but he's bound and determined to stay as far away from Bella as he can. Which is more for her own good than his, however ... it's not that easy for either of them, and before long they're doing this beautifully constructed dance, flirting up a storm, almost hooking up and ... developing feelings for one another, or so it seems.
I don't want to give away spoilers, but I will say that somewhere along the line Edward starts to genuinely care for Bella, and then bam!—he does something that leaves them both hanging. Lola steps in and works her magic at this point, and the character development for the second half of the story is executed perfectly.
I won't give away anything more, but I will say that although Edward is an ass, it's easy to fall for him, and this particular Edward is one of my favorites. This story will keep your emotions bouncing all over the place, and there will probably be more than a few times when you'll want to tear your hair out or throw something at the computer (at least there were for me, hehe). I think that's a testament to how fabulous of a story teller Lola is though, because the ones with the most talent are usually the ones who generate such strong reactions in their readers.
